Is an upmarket "French cafe" with an extensive breakfast menu which untypically for Cape Town is served all day. There is fine dining in the evenings.

The Café Des Artes

Which adjoins the gallery of the same name was named after the owners visited a café of the same name in san Remy during a cycling trip in France. That Café Des Artes had a bohemian intellectual environment & was populated by writers & artists. This version also blends art & coffee & forms a meeting place for people.

Olympia Café & Deli 

Known for its fabulous breads, cakes & creative sandwiches, & "The Deli" is still the first & last word on the perfect cappuccino, ciabatta & linefish. Simply furnished with wooden tables, an assortment of chairs & the paintings, photographs & artworks, the strongest décor statement is still the quaint harbour. Consistently high standards, fresh ingredients & presentation makes the clientele willing to queue if they can´t get a reservation. 

Café Matisse

Is another funky restaurant along the Kalk Bay Strip. Although small they serve excellent pizza & a variety of smaller snacks & afternoon bites.

Café Sirocco

Unmissable bright blue parasols, a bright blue floor & white tubs of plants & flowers make this attractive open-air coffee house worth a stop. They serve great coffee, & an all day breakfast, another rarity in the Cape, although there is a limited snack menu. The service is quick but relaxed & friendly.

Cape to Cuba

As the name suggests the restaurant is loaded with Cuban fare & soul & there are some very imaginative dishes. The ambience is excellent albeit eclectic as all the décor in the restaurant is for sale! Hope someone else on dessert doesn´t want to take your chair. Great Cuban cocktails especially the mojitos & there is a new outdoor "beach bar" area.

The Brass Bell

Is a Cape Town institution having been around for over 60 years! The Bell is sandwiched between the railway line & the ocean & now has 2 pubs, 3 restaurants & a pizza terrace. The downstairs terrace spills into a tidal pool & as the most relaxed space it is not unusual to find patrons cooling off between courses from seafood & pizzas to burgers & steaks. Upstairs is a little more upmarket with seafood of course! & the oriental cabin serving some Eastern delicacies.

The Polana

Is literally on the rocks. The restaurant has a fabulous lounge with comfy leather couches & big open windows that let you feel the sea spray from the waves crashing. The cuisine is mainly Portuguese with African & Indonesian flavours. They serve flame-grilled sardines, spicy fish soup, fresh line fish & seafood, calamari & peri peri livers & chicken. There are meat choices too all prepared by Angolan chef. Stays open late for drinks.

Harbour House

At Kalk Bay harbour is bright & breezy, with the complete aquamarine setting. Boats come & go with catch of the day & the menu focuses mainly on fresh ingredients from the ocean. Despite the seafood extravaganza they do excellent salads for light relief, as well as ostrich, lamb & beef for the carnivores.

Perched on the harbour wall, Live Bait is a new edition to Kalk Bay harbour dining with views of the harbour, the ocean, the town & the mountain. Seafood is by far the order of the day with calamari & mussels, prawns, linefish & seafood pastas. The really big guy is the seafood platter which has crayfish & everything else on the menu included!

The Timeless Way

Is a restaurant full of charm & character with an eclectic mix of furniture. They specialize in Cape Cuisine as well as sea food naturally, & a selection of steaks & pasta. The bobotie is delicious & a great South African dish to taste.

Theresa´s

Is in an old Kalk Bay house off Boyes Drive overlooking the fishing village. The traditional Cape dishes like oxtail, bredies & curries are the trademarks but some sensational fillet & vegetarian dishes. This is a special place with a talented chef & caring service.
